UNIFORMITY ISSUE SHOWING 100% WHITE

I am not excited by correction tools, the uniformity should be very good out of the box, that’s the correct approach, a correction tool is for minor uniformity issues, it should never be used for major issues as it will bring other issues with it, potentially including banding, noise and seams, minor issues fine, major issues not fine at all. As a customer you should expect good uniformity OOTB.

I was told by Xigmi the plan was a 3x3 grid, however I have this to add. : Since the uniformity mainly runs across the screen from one side to the other, maybe a 9x1 grid approach might be better. However the transitions between the zones would need to be seamless. i.e., the correction values are interpolated over smaller zones continually across the screen.

There is a report that a feature will be added where users will be able to adjust this on a 9 zone basis. This is a very exciting and positive development for the people who might discover noticeable uniformity issues on their TNs

Thank you for your feedback. We have pulled 12 units from the production line to measure 9-point uniformity at various iris settings. The test results show that both the x and y values are below 0.015, indicating good overall consistency. From visual inspection, a slight pinkish tint in local areas does become slightly more noticeable as the iris aperture decreases, but it remains within specification. We are currently working on further optimization using the X-Vision chip to achieve even higher consistency.

How viable would it be to give more control over the two irises? It seems like the lens iris enhances this issue significantly. I think a manual mode with more granular control and dynamic iris control where we can customize which irises open a the threshold for each. For static iris: Iris 1 F2 ─── F3 ─── F4 ─── F5.5 ─── F7 F2 Iris 2 F2 ─── F3 ─── F4 ─── F5.5 ─── F7 F5.5 Dynamic Iris example where a range could be set: Iris 1 F2 ─── F3 ─── F4 ─── F5.5 ─── F7 │===========│ F2 F4 Iris 2 F2 ─── F3 ─── F4 ─── F5.5 ─── F7 │=====│ F5.5 F7

This is a big deal. My eyes are sensitive to DSE and uniformity issues. If the current units exhibiting this issue are not shown to be improved via a firmware update before the kickstarter ends I may have to cancel my pledge.

This is noticeable when watching the type of content described for me on f3-7. Hopefully this is something which can be improved upon.

Now that some of us have seen uniformity issues we hope to see an improvement by XGIMI. Some testers have just a little some like myself more. Mine is pink on one side of the screen with 100& white, fading back to white almost close to half the screen width, thats alot. No good for B&W screens or very bright colour films with snow etc. Hopefully you guys can make an improvement here....
