I have described in more detail the issue with 24fps in 3D mode in the followng avsforum post and the google drive folder it is pointing to: https://www.avsforum.com/posts/64614827/ Note that the minimum should be to support the "normal" 5:5 cadence for 3D @ 24fps, like all other "good" projectors do (i think H20 as well). I wouldn't call this "perfect 24 fps @ 3D" though. For that , one would need 144 fps, which older 1080p DLP projectors did support, and of course good 3D DLP-Link glasses as well - even though TI never fully spec'ed it (i think).
Please 24p also in 3D
My initial tests indicate that 23.976p, 24p , 25p and 50p work perfectly 👍
In addition to 24hz support, the projector needs to support both integer (24.0) and fractional (23.976) frame rates. Integer frame rates are more commonly being used on streaming services replacing the legacy fractional frame rates. The same also applies to 25, 30, 50 and 60hz which all have integer and fractional frame rates.
This is absolutely needed, surprised it’s even up for discussion
I agree with below that true native 24hz should be added even if it results in higher rainbow effect- let the people choose their own compromise! I also want to emphasize that statistically most people are not bothered by rainbow effect. According to Benq research, only around 40% of humans are physically able to see rainbow effect, but only 1/3rd of that 40% of people find it unwatchable/problematic. The other 2/3rd of the 40% group don’t care enough about the rainbow effects.
I don’t see a reason that we can’t have both RBE reduction and true 24p and if that’s not possible then have a toggle for each so we have a choice of which one we want to use. Not everyone is affected by RBE and not everyone sees motion issues. If we can’t have both or a combination of the two with perhaps just a reduced RBE level with correct 24p then a choice would be better.
With optimal Dynamic iris and laser dimming I have read it’s possible to get down to 0.002 nit levels, lower than the entry level JVC units, would be nice to have two modes for the dynamic iris and laser dimming algorithms, the mode we have now and a second mode that just goes nuts in trying to achieve the very lowest black level during scenes that require it, obviously try and minimise the artifacts but why not, two versions which can be switched and choose the one you prefer. 24/25p is very important, 3D is very important to me too and if you can’t have a second dynamic iris/laser dimming option I will take full fade to black or just give them all.
Agreed. True 24p and 25p are fundamental
Please include true 24p in 3D as well
Yes if this is going to be a true home cinema projector, then this is a must! Especially if it’s been advertised on your website
Came here after i heard native 24 was removed.. I was all aboard the hype train until then
Native 24p is essential for movies Please prioritize it
Great list! artifact free DBLE and DI cooperation most important!
That is exactly why is it the top of my list 😉 I can fully understand priorities might be different for other people on the 3D, 24p, RBE .. as their preferences change ...
These are all great suggestions and me and other users have broken these suggestions up to individual feature requests. - correct DBLE and DI cooperation, without artifacts like color shifting, brightness pumping, clipping - correct full resolution framepacked 3D support (with MEMC if possible): COMPLETE https://xgimi.userjot.com/board/p/full-resolution-3d - correct 24fps movie mode: REVEIWING https://xgimi.userjot.com/board/p/support-24p - Full Fade To Black , turning lasers off during full black scene: https://xgimi.userjot.com/board/p/allow-laser-to-go-complete… - anti RBE mode (also in 3D if possible): https://xgimi.userjot.com/board/p/dithering-artifacts-and-rb…
Difficult to back kickstarter without native 24hz
Horizon20 is not true 24p We want true native 24p!
Original FCS plan explanation from @NeeNee5157 (XGIMI) on avsforums https://www.avsforum.com/posts/64536287/ The current approach will be similar to H20, but with smoother performance overall. Meanwhile, the team is still working on other solutions to achieve true native 24p, but it’s not something we feel comfortable promising for day one yet.
This is not an update, and misrepresenting it like an “update” is harmful and detracts from the ultimate goal here. For reference, NeeNee’s post is 18hrs old, and this userjot in response to his post is only eight(8) hours old. I suggest you delete this post entirely, or at least edit it to remove “update” and replace it with “inception/root of the issue” or something to that effect (what it truly is).
Ok, thanks. As explained on avsfoums too, i think its very useful to have all the explanations from XGIMI about whats planned here, so users here do not have to wade through thousands of posts on avsforum.
Thank you for hearing me out and your edit is appreciated.
Please address whether this is merely a software puzzle that can be solved via future firmware updates, or whether there is a chance it can never be solved via the current hardware. Your commitment to assure true native 24p in a future firmware update will determine whether the Titan Noir is purchased, or not (if no such assurances can be confidently provided).
Per @Milad. On AVSForum, “Valerion achieves true native 24p by modifying the speed of the XPR from 240hz (1080p x 4 x 60hz = 4k60), down to 192hz (1080p x 4 x 48). It’s actually 48hz but at 2:2 it’s essentially native 24p. I believe any lower than 192hz the rainbow effects would drastically increase.”
Given this projector’s focus as a true home theatre projector, I agree that it is crucial to support native 24p (and 25p for Europe)
Given how H20 series also only claimed 24p support with it's "Real Cinema", i have opened a separate request for 25/50p, so we make sure that request does not get lost in our 24p request.Maybe go and like the 25/50p request - especially if you are in europe
hi, I now own the Xgimi Horizon 20PRO It's a super projector, especially the brightness! But please add a real native 24p mode! Then the projector would be perfect! Greetings!
Related to dynamic dimming, some users seem to like the "FFTB (Full Fade to Black)" feature which completely turns off the light source when the content shows a totally black screen..
Please consider an frame interpolation for 24fps. The current firmware 1.2.82 does not support FI, hence it is useless due to too much stutter.
